Designed to deliver in every detail

Although we are fresh compared to the conservative food industry, we have been developing the Micvac technique for a number of years. Thanks to extensive testing and experimenting, we have achieved just the right balance between the different package components to deliver a perfect result, every time.

The ingenious, multifunctional valve

In many ways the valve is the heart and soul of the Micvac method. This is how it works:

Micvac’s patented valve regulates the air pressure inside the package

The valve is constructed in layers with a special adhesive in between. As the temperature rises, the air pressure opens the valve to release the steam, and with it the air/oxygen molecules in the package. When cooling begins the valve closes and the package is airtight again. The remaining steam condenses, thereby creating underpressure in the package.

The vacuum enables a longer shelf life of the food

This is a natural vacuum, allowing the meal a prolonged shelf life. The valve is able to repeat this trick over and over again. When the end consumer heats up the meal in the microwave oven at home, the valve once again does its duty and opens up to release air – and with it a whistling signal.

The perfect film for the job

The film that seals the tray is not just any old piece of plastic. It is a scientifically developed food packaging material. We spent years testing how it yields when stretched and sealed to the edges of the tray, how it behaves in high and low temperatures, when it’s cut, pierced and so on. And now, finally, we are prepared to say that this is the perfect film for the job.

The anti-cold spot package

At first glance it may look like an ordinary tray, but the shape, design and choice of materials are no coincidence. This is industrial food packaging at its best. The Micvac tray has been painstakingly developed for optimal heat distribution as the end consumer heats their Micvac meal in the microwave. The oval shape of the tray is microwave–friendly, while also preventing uneven heating such as burned edges. The flexible tray bottom allows controlled deformation as the air leaves the package and a vacuum is created. The lid film performs the same inward movement, which leaves just a narrow passage between the lid and the bottom, minimising the risk of cold spots.

Different packages for different needs

There are trays in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes, from 200 g up to 1000 g. We have food packaging supplies for every need. Our latest addition is the two-compartment tray. When you are able to separate the ingredients, such as rice or vegetables, it opens the door for new recipes and combinations.

Micvac trays come in different variations, sizes and colours

The Micvac method is also suitable for cooking in thermoformed packages and pouches, also available in a variety of shapes and sizes.
